Geoffrey Shamu won a Premier Prix de Trompette at the centralized competition of the Conservatoires de la Ville de Paris (France). An active orchestral performer, he can be heard with ensembles throughout New England including Odyssey Opera, the Vista Philharmonic, the Marsh Chapel Collegium, the Lexington Symphony, and the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, of which he is a permanent member. Equally active as a chamber musician, he is a founding member of Boston’s Riverside Brass and has collaborated with the flamenco-infused project ¡Con Fuego! and the contemporary music ensemble Alea III. With these chamber groups he has appeared at such festivals as Summer Music from Greensboro (VT), the BU Tanglewood Institute Faculty Concert Series in Lenox (MA), and the Hellenic Festival in Epidaurus, Greece. He has performed as a soloist with such groups as the Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Cité, the Ensemble Polyphorum, and the Brass Band de Paris.
